Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them – Harry Potter’s derived sequence has release date
Warner Bros. confirmed the development of the sequence of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, a film derived from Harry Potter universe. JK Rowling will return to write the second film, which has won a release date: November 16, 2018.
David Yates, director of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, will also return to his position in the continuation, and producers David Heyman, Rowling, Steve Kloves and Lionel Wigram.
In a statement, Warner said that Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2 will “moves deeper into an increasingly dark time for the wizarding world, where Newt and our other heroes have to decide on their allegiances”
The plot takes place in 1926 when the magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) has just completed his journey around the world to find and document a wide variety of creatures. Turning briefly to New York, he could have come and gone without incident, if it were not for No-Maj called Jacob, an open magic suitcase and the flight of some fantastic creatures Newt, which can cause problems for the wizarding world and No-Maj.
Eddie Redmayne was rejected by producers. Katherine Waterston, Ezra Miller, Colin Farrell, Dan Fogler, Samantha Morton, Jon Voight, Gemma Chan (the Humans TV series), Carmen Ejogo (Selma) and Ron Perlman (Hellboy) round out the main cast.
JK Rowling, the creator of the Harry Potter franchise, signs Fantastic Beasts script and Where to Find Them – this is his debut as a screenwriter – as well as producing the film with David Heyman (producer of all eight films of the saga), Steve Kloves and Lionel Wigram. David Yates, who led the last four films in the Harry Potter series, directs the film.
